USE OF TELEVISION SEEN T0 BE BROAD Dr. Alexanderson, Pioneer of Development, Prophesies Extensive Growth. By the Assoclated Press. SCHENECTADY, N. Y., May 283—A wide orama of the future possibili- tles of television in peace and war was unrolled today by Dr. E. F. W. Alex- snderson, whose predictions were in- spired by the world premiere of life size television images thrown on a theater screen. rI;‘e' Alexanderson, pioneer of tele- vision development, visioned {he appli- eatlon of ogremmn to manifold uses from entertainment as an adjunct to the home radio and a supplement to the talking pictures of the movie house to the grim business of spying out an ene- my's position for an army and directing erewless bombing planes. He made his predictions after a group of singers, dancers and other entertain- ers, & mile away, had performed for an audience which included scientists and newspaper correspondents. For the first time the images appeared life size on a 6-foot screen. Heretofore television images have been shown in miniature on & 14-inch screen. Home Sets Possible. “Whether the general public will be enough interested or get enough out of television to make it possible to com- mercialize home sets for television is atill to be seen,” he said. “The possibilities for'the new inven- tions in this art of television are in- spiring. Just think of it—when you can put an electric eye wherever you ‘wish and seg through this eye just as if you re there. we"A.n airplane with a news reporter will fiy to see whatever is of interest, and the whole theater audience will be with him, seel what he sees, and yet the audl%xlme be perfectly safe and comfortable.
