B4 ° NAVY PREPARING 'T0 SUPERVISE VOTE 45 Officers of Three Services 1 Will Aid in Check at Nica- i raguan Polls. Elaborate preparations are being made by the Navy Department to take part in the supervision by the United States of the Nicaraguan congressional elections to be held early in November. In the electorial supervisory body there will be 300 enlisted men of the Navy assembled at Coco Solo, in the Canal Zone, beginning early in June. Ap- proximately 45 Army, Navy and Marine Corps officers, more than 20 of whom are junior naval line officers, will be de- tailed on this electoral duty in Nica- Tagua. A previous announcement revealed that President Hoover has designated Capt. Alfred Wilkinson Johnson, U. 8. N., director of naval intelligence, Navy Department, for appointment by the Nicaraguan Supreme Court as president of the national board of elections. Junior Line Officers to Aid. ‘The more than 20 junior line officers of the Navy, who served on the Nicara- guan electoral mission of 1928, will be ordered to this duty and in addition, & few civilian technical experts will be as- ed. e battalion of 300 naval enlisted men and 10 officers of the line and staff, to be assembled within the next two weeks at Coco Solo will be all taken from the fleet and will leave their ships ‘when the battle fleet enters the Panama Canal next month. N., who is now on duty in the Office of Naval Intelligence in the Navy Department and has just been designated as assistant to Capt. John- son.
