BALLOU T STUDY BURFALDSEADOLS Cooper Calls on District Edu-| cator for Important Survey Task. Dr. Frank W. Ballou, superintendent | of schools, was invited yesterday by Dr. | Willilam John Cooper, United States | commissioner of education, to assist in a survey of the public schools of Buffalo, N. Y. Dr. Cooper first wrote to Superintendent Ballou in March. and when the Washington educator ex- pressed doubt that he could be avail- able for the survey at a specific time, Ballou was requested to set his own time for the task, which was expected to take three or four days Consequently, Dr. Ballou found his schedule would permit his absence from the Capital for the required time oeginning next Monday, and he ap- pealed to the Board of Education for the necessary leave of absence Dr. Ballou declared that his study of Buffalo schools would be of material value to him in the administration of ‘Washington's public sch . leave of absence was readily granted him by the board late yesterday.
