By the Associated Press. | LANGLEY FIELD, Va., May 9.—Capt. | Percy G. Black, 8th Field Artillery, was | in a hospital today, the sole survivor of an airplane collision which cost the lives | of Lieut Col. Phra Amara of the Siamese | Air Corps_and Lieut. Robert J. Brown, ir., U. S. A. Air Corps. Amara was killed instantly when the seaplane he was piloting locked wings | with an observation land plane occupied by Brown and Black. Both planes fell 200 feet. Brown died an hour later in| Langley Field Hospital. Black suffered | a broken left arm, broken wrist and | gevere lacerations on the head. ‘The three flyers, students in the Air Corps Tactical School, were returning {from participation in a exhibition flight given for the benefit of the execu- tive council of the Am Association in sessior fort, Va., yesterday w three children. By the Associated Press. FRANKFORT, Ky. May 9.—Former State Treasurer James A. Wallace was acquitted by a jury in Franklin Circuit Court yesterday of a charge of altering election returns in the 1927 primary so as to obtain the Republican nomination for State auditor. Wallace had previously been found guilty on five counts and sentenced to 121, years' imprisonment. The Ken- tucky Court of Appeals set aside the verdict because of introduction of in- valid evidence. Mrs. Ivers, who was the second woman to become a film director in Hollywood, was prominently connected with many early motion picture enter- prises. She retired eight years ago.
