LONDON (N.ANA)—In spite of managerial depression, it is interesvmg to note that by the end of the year ro fewer than five new “legitimate” playhouses will have been opened in the West End. ‘The newest, the Prince Edward, has just opened with the musical comeay, “Rio Rita.” This bullding is com, pletely different from any other tew in London. It is made of brown ‘brick and has sloping roofs covered with bright red tiles. a frieze of yellow plaster and shutters and windows of emerald green. Inside the prevailing theme of color is Indian red, dull cream and gold. One enters from the street into a circular foyer lined in wa.nut and there are | other circular foyers above and below for the dress circle and stalls, re- spectively. Other theaters now in process of cone struction are the Cambridge in Seven Dials, the Phoenix in Charing Cross road, the Whiteha'l which will be quite tiny, and the new theater in Leicester Square.
