Pershing will be given the unusual honor of the honorary degree of “doc- tor of military science” by New York University. The ceremony of bestowal will take place tomorrow by special ar- rangement to conform to the general’s sailing date. This is the first such honor given by this university and will add still another distinction to the many already cun- ferred upon the commander-in-chief of the American Expeditionary Forces during the World War and since by this and many other nations. Pershing will be in France when the first contingent of Gold Star moth- ers arrives on the series of pilgrimages to the graves of their sons buried in the American cemeteries. The part Gen.
