Anastasia Tchaikovsky, who has challenged the imagination of mil- lions on two continents by her claims that she is the youngest daughter of the slain Russian Czar, today recalled to the Immigration Bureau one of its most vexing pmbumn of the last ten years. Coming to the United States on a visitor's permit, which has ekpired, Mme. Tchaikovsky made application for an extension, but even should she decide to stay on indefinitely, officials know of nothing they can do about the situation. And the same applies to hundreds of other Russians in this country who would be deported if there were any ;‘ly of doing it or any place to send While no steps to expel Mme. Tchai- kovsky have been taken, the Immigra- tion Bureau has issued deportation papers for approximately 700 Russian natives who are believed to be still in America. They are an accumulation of nearly ten years, and have been con- victed of one or another of the many offenses carrying deportation as & punishment. But Russia won't have them. They can't be deported to other countries. So_here they stay. The last Russian natives were de- ported from this country in 1920 on the Army transport Buford, known as the Soviet Ark. Emma Goldman and Alex- ander Berkman, famous radical leaders, accompanied by hundreds of other former immigrants, were in the con- tingent. Shortly thereafter Russia de- clined to receive any more of her people deported directly from the United States, and until December, 1921, more than 300 were sent back by way of Latvia. e HAGNERS FILE MOTION FOR NEW SALES TRIAL Pair Convicted of Illegal Use of Mails Claim District Court Lacked Jurisdiction, Herman G.
