WATSON SEORES SENATEDEMDCRAT Charges They Are Screening Tariff Action Behind | Propaganda Smoke. By the Associated Press. Explaining that Democratic Senators had cast a total of 1,010 votes either for increased tariff rates or against fllropuud decreases, Senator Watson of diana, the Republican leader, last night charged that a large majority of them were attempting to “screen their own actions behind a curtain of propa- ganda smoke.” “In view of the assaults on the Senate tariff bill emanating from the Demo- cratic propaganda bureau under the pames of individual Senators,” Watson #aid, “it is illuminating to ne the votes cast by the Democr: enators during the months they delayed action | on this bill and thus contributed so largely to business unseitlement and | consequent unemployment.” | His statement, issued through the Re- | ublican national committee, said 526 emocratic votes had been cast for | rate increases and 484 against de- | creases. | ‘The Indianan said the record showed | that “some of those who have assailed the Senate bill most lustily supported a large number of increases in rates and | voted against a large number of de- creases.” “One outstanding example,” he con- tinued, “is Senator Connally of Texas, who lent his name to the Demociatic | propaganda bureau for denunciatior® of | the bill just before it was passed by the Senate by an overwhelming majority. He voted 21 times for increases in rates | and an even dozen times against de- creases in rates. “The Democratic whip, Senator Shep- | ard of Texas, compiled an even more ormidable record. He supported 32| rate increases and cast his vote against | 12 proposals for decreases. | “Senator Dill of Washington voted for | 17 rate increases and against 22 pro-| als for decreases.” “Senator Wagner of New York voted 10 times for increases and 23 times ainst decreases.” ‘Watson added that seven Democrats “had the courage of their convicticns to the end by voting for the bill.” He said they were Bratton of New Mexico, Copeland of New York, Pitt- man of Nevada, Trammell of Florida, Broussard and Ransdell of Louisiana and Kendrick of Wyoming, while Sena- tor Fletcher of Florida was paired for the bill. DEMOCRATS PLEDGED T0 WET PLATFORM North Dakota Organization Will Urge Repeal of Eighteenth Amendment. By the Assoclated Press. JAMESTOWN, N. Dak, Democratic_party candidates for office in North Dakota today were pledged 1o a platform containing a section urg- ing repeal of the eighteenth amend- | ment and the Volstead enforcement act. The platform was adopted at the | Democratic State convention here yes- terday, when Pierce Blewett of James- town was chosen to head the party's| State ticket in the June primaries as its_gubernatorial candidate. The prohibition plank said the eight- | April 3.— eenth amendment has brought “ruina- tion to the farmer,” because he has been robbed of his market for corn, | 1ve, barley and hops, thereby throwing farm production out of balance.” The plank also asserts that “10 years under rohibition has resulted in a reign of temperance in words, expenditure of money, crime and corruption.” STUDY ROOF FIELDS LOS ANGELES, April 3 (#).—A com- mittee of flying experts today was under instruction by the City of Los Angeles to | study the practicability of establishing airplane landing fields on roofs of downtown bulldings. ‘Among points to be investigated are the effects of irregular bullding heights on air currents and the possibllity of limiting erection of towers. Highest Praise For the New Herb Extract Says It Quickly Corrected | a Nervous, | Rundown || Condition Most every one in Alexandria, Va., | knows Mr. Yale C. Minton, better | known as Capt. Minton, veteran of | the Spanish-American War, who re- sides at 818 King St. Capt. Minton says, regarding Miller's Herb Ex- tract (formerly called Herb Juice), | a friend who knew of my condition advised me to give this medicine a | trial, and I have found it to be even better than they said. For some time past I was troubled a great deal | with my stomach, also liver and a chronic case of constipation. Noth- | | ing I ate agreed with me, billous spells, also gas pains and indiges- tion made me very nervous. In fact, at night I was so restless and | nervous I was unable to sleep or | rest; in short I was in a badly run- | down nervous condition. The first | bottle of this Herb Extract helped | me, and from the way it removed | the bile and poison waste I knew | that it was sure to help me in every | | way, and it did. After a few days’ | use of the medicine m7 stomach no longer troubled me; food did not sour or ferment, indigestion no longer troubled me after meals and 1 feel like a different person. This medicine also corrected the liver | trouble, relieved every ache and pain. | I no longer have that nervous rest- | less feeling and sleep sound after | going to bed. I have never given a | statement of this kind before, but | as this medicine has proven its value to me in more ways than one, I fee! | that others here at home should | know about it, and if they are | troubled as I was I advise them to give Miller's Herb Extract a trial. | See the special representatives direct ! from the laboratories at their head- | quarters in Peoples Drug Store, 505 | 7th St. N.W.
