He said he was asked to go to the place 17 miles from Menominee to haul a car out of the ditch. He drove alone. La Guardia as a “go-between” in negotiations for merger of Bethlehem Steel with Youngstown Sheet & Tube, yesterday answered with a statement which said: “Counsel for both companies were consulted and approved the proposed transaction as entirely legal before the negotiations were completed.” La Guardia had called the merger plan a combination “in restraint of trade” and introduced a resolution ask- ing Attorney General Willlam D. CAIRO, Egypt, April 3.—A photo- graph taken at the Helouan Observatory confirmed, it was stated today, existence of the transneptune planet recently dis- covered by the Lowell Observatory at Flagstaff, Ariz. Photographs of the plant were taken March 17, 24 and 27, the body appearing on the sensitive plates after an hour's exposure in each case. The planet is less briiliant than Nep- tune, which formerly was thought to g@ the outermost planet, but it apparently is larger than the earth. Warner, wvice president of First National Studios, announced today that a program calling for expenditure of $17,500,000 on 40 pictures had been decided upon by the company for the 1930-31 period.
