Senate and House conferees agreed to a conference report late vesterday on the census-reapportionment bill and the report will be presented for action in the House tomorrow. The Senate conferees agreed to strike | out an amendment adopted by the Sen- | ate which would have placed all census enumerators under civil service. The amendment, introduced by Senator Wagner, Democrat of New York, was the subject of a long controversy in the Senate before it was finally approved. The othér major controversy between the two houses was over the date on which the census is to be taken, and the House conferees receded from the action by that branch in fixing May 1, 1930, and agreed to the Senate pro- posal for November 1 of this year.
