Net corporate income of the Wash- ington Gas Light Co. for October amounted to $25,829.58, compared with | $32.239.57 in October, 1926, according | to the monthly reports filed with the | Publie Utilities Commission. Operating revenues for the month were $435,336.07, against revenues of $415,605.32 for the same month in 1926. Other un- heavy deductions leave a net income for the 10 months of 01.34, while this figure last year was $630,201.34. The 10-month summary shows a net corporate income after all deductions of $77,205.51, an_excellent gain over the same period in 1926, when it was $53,87! Operating revenues amounted to $6: in compari- son with $549,877.. Operat- ing expenses wer 66, com- pared with $440,935.54 last ye: The company paid out in taxes $27,958.06 this year, against $24,335.11 a vear ago. Deduction of expenses and taxes left the gas company with an operat- ing income for the 10 months of $113,- 821.77, compared with the lower figure in 1926 of $84,606.99. $6,000,000 in Christmas Savings. Approximately $6,000,000 in Chris mas savings checks was being dis- tributed today by 26 local banks to 78,000 club members. At the same time the same banks were opening the 1928 club accounts. Releasing of such a large sum of money will be felt in every avenue of trade in the National Cipital and give Christmas shopping a tremendous boost. The clubs during the past year were the most successful yet conducted in Washington. The largest club was reported by tha American Security & Trust Co, which with its four branches had 7,200 members, who de- posited $504,25! Of the banks operating without branches the Mount Vernon Savings topped the list with $388,007, closely followed by the Security Savings & Commercial with $354,069.
