Brown, 58 years old, 727 Twentleth street, died yesterday afternoon at her residence of heart faflure after a long illness. A native of Honolulu, she had been active for the past eight years in the civic under- takings of Washington and played a prominent part in-the fight for rent legislation in the District. For five years Mrs. Brown was the general secretary of the Honolulu Y. W. C. A. before coming to the United States, where she founded the Brown vocational school for training tearoom and cafeterla managers, and became principal of the Lewis Hotel Training School in this city. She was secretary of the Housekeepers' Alli- ance and a member of the Home Eco- nomics Association, being closely asso- sociated with Mrs. Harvey W. Wiley. She is survived by her husband, Henry C. Brown, assistant secretary of the Y. M. C. A, and a daughter, Miss Anita B. Brow Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at Lee's chapel, 332 Pennsylvania avenue, by Rev. W. A. Elunberger, assistant pastor of the Church of the Covenant, after which the remains will be cre- mated and the ashes taken to Honolulu. OBGANIZATION ACTIVITIES TONIGHT.
