Professor McAdie says the big storm has passed over the Slerra and that better weather may be expected ‘for a few days at least. The rainfall was unusually heavy over the whole coast from San Diego north. Much snow fell in the mountains. The winds raged with a velocity ranging from thirty miles an hour in thé interior to seventy | miles an hour at Point Reyes. About five inches of rain fell in San Francisco | during March, bringing the seasonal | rainfall up to 16.19 inches, which is normal. The river situation is causing a con- siderable amount of worry in view of the fact that the waters were rising rapidly last night. Dick of Trinity Church | is seriously considering a call to be pastor of one of the leading Methodist churches of San Francisco. He received a second letter yesterday from -one of the Bishops of the churc¢h in whose hands the whole matter of selecting a pastor for that charge has been placed. STOCKTON, March 3l.—Although the water is very high around the city to- night, the local rainfall for the last storm was less than one inch. For the month ending it has reached 5.88 inches, but for the season it is still a fraction below last year. The rain of last night and yester- day was freaky. SACRAMENTO, March 31.—This . city and valley have passed through a remark- able Storm. For the first time in the history of Sacrament® lightning proved destructive, striking a barn and tearing it to splinters. In the last twenty-four hours 2.43 inches of rain fell here, brifg- ing the total to 19.89 inches, against 18.35 inches for last season. What promiised to be a dry season has already rounded out the full winter normal, and promises to go down in history as a wet season. A great volume of water is coming down the American River and the Sacramento River has passed the 26-foof mark, but it can stand two feet more of rise. The levees at all points down the Bacramento River are safe, althouigh men' are guard- ing them at various threatened polnts. The rainfall during the past twenty- four hours was extremely heavy, .all the towns in Northern California, with two exceptions, recelving more than an inch.
