Real Estate Session Draws Architects From Capital Institute Convenes Tuesday at Louisville A delegation of more than a dozen prominent local architects, headed by E. Philip Schreier, president of the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, will journey to Louisville, Ky., Mon- day to attend the 72d annual con- vention of the institute. The outstanding problem to be considered during the four-day con- clave opening Tuesday, will be the question of unification of the archi- tectural profession, Mr. Schreier said today. A conference of repre- sentatives of 24 State associations of architects will be held Monday preceding the convention opening. The principal theme of this prelim- inary meeting wiil be the develop- ment of a Nation-wide movement for unifying the various organiza- tions of architects. Delegates from the local chapter, in addition to Mr. Schreier, will in- clude Alfred Kastner, secretary of the chapter; Louis Justement, Francis P. Sullivan, Robert F. Beresford and F. V, Murphy. Repre- sentatives of several Federal Gov- ernment agencies also are expected to attend the sessions, which will continue through Friday. Seventy other chapters of the institute will be represented. Among the topics scheduled for discussion are housing, the relation of the architect to society, regional development in the United States, New materials of construction, the education program of architectural schools, architectural service for the small home owner and the influence of Government upon the future of the architectural profession. To Report on Standards. The convention also will receive reports on the progress of a Nation- wide movement to raise the stand- ards of design and construction of small homes, which is being carried out by the institute and council in co-operation with the Federal Home Loan Bank Board. Plans to extend & protective building service to small home owners in every locality in the United States will be de- veloped. Edwin Bergstrom of Los An- geles, president of the A, I. A, is expected to define the ])osmon of organized architecture relative to the national housing program, Re- ports will. be received from the gaups Committee on Multiple Unit lousing and the Committee on De- tached Unit Housing. Another problem scheduled to re- ceive consideration, Mr. Bergstrom said, is the relauonsmp of the ar- chitectural profession with other (See ARCHITECTS, Page B-2) AMER. UNIV. Use Oil-Free Mop on Wax Hardwood floors which are wax soated should be cleaned with a mop or soft brush which is free of oil, as oil has a tendency to soften wax. A cloth wrung from warm, soapy water should suffice to re- move the surface dirt. There are certain cleaners which are recom- mended for removing wax and for removing spots or discolorations from floors before refinishing. A rag moistened with turpentine or mineral spirits also will remove wax. New . ..
