CHURCH Tal(bina Lutheran Pastor fo Mark Decade in Ministry ‘In the Footsteps of The Apostles’ Topic of The Rev. Mr. Pfeiffer The Rev. J. Adrian Pfeiffer, pas- tor of the Takoma Lutheran Church, will celebrate the tenth anniversary of his ordination into the ministry tomorrow morning. After he was graduated from the Capital University Theological Seminary at Columbus, Ohio, he was ordained in his home congre- gation in Springfield, Ohio, and fol- lowed a call to the St. James’ Luth- eran Church of Rockdale, Md., which he served until the winter of 1934, when he became the pas- tor of the Takoma Lutheran Church. “In the Footsteps of the Apostles” will be the title of the sermon. There will be holy communion. At 6:30 o'clock the Luther League will hold a dinner. G. Leonard, di- rector of the Children's Receiving Home of Washington, will be the speaker. Members of the cate- chetical classes and the students of Bliss Electrical School, who have attended the Takoma Lutheran services during the school term, will be the guests. On Wednesday, at 10:30 am., a woman's meeting will be held when Mrs. George Robertson, president of the Takoma Health and Welfare Society, will speak. Disciples of Christ To Meet in Waynesboro ‘The sixty-third annual convention of the Disciples of Christ of the Capital area will be held at Waynes- boro, Pa., May 20-22. The president, the Rev. W. M. Norment of the First Christian Church, Hagers- town, Md., will preside. The con- vention will begin Monday after- noon with a trip to the Gettysburg | battlefield, and will be followed by a banquet at night to which all dele- gates are invited. Among the local speakers will be the Rev. A. P. Wilson of the Colum- bia Heights Christian Church, the Rev. Ivan H. Dugan of the National City Christian Church, the Rev. Fred Miller of the Mount Rainier Church and the Rev. Ernest R. Bryan of the Takoma Park Church. Mrs. Ronald Magee will lead con- | ferences for children’s workers. The | Rev. C. N. Contracts fo Be Lei Soon For Baptist Church Job The Fifth Baptist Church will soon let contracts for the remodel- ing of the main church auditorium. It will include rebuilding and elec- trification of the pipe organ, an instrument which has been in con- stant use for over 65 years. The remodeling will provide a choir loft for 70 singers. This enlargement program marks a new emphasis on sacred music, under the direction of the Rev. J. Herrick Hall, recently called as junior minister. He came here May 9, after five years as minister of music and radio missions of the First Baptist Church of New Or- leans. Sunday's services will feature a sermon by Dr. John E. Briggs at 11 am. on “All for Jesus.” At T:45 A meeting of the King’s Mes- sengers Class on Tuesday evening has been advanced one week on ac- count of the play to be given by the Christian Endeavor Players on May 28 and 29. Holy Trinity Church To Mark May Day The annual May Day demonstra- tion at Holy Trinity Church will be held tomorrow at 3 o'clock with a procession. This has taken place for more than 100 years. The Sisters of Mercy have arranged the pro- gram. The Holy Name Society will march at the head of the procession, in the front dine of which will be the Rev. | Father Cunningham, rector of the| church, with Father Ward, Father Daugherty and Father Rohleder. There will be three sections. The first communion group will lead. The May queen will be Miss Cath- erine Lavazzi, from the high school, attended by a number of gradu- ates. The queen will place a wreath on the statue of the Blessed Virgin. Vesper services will follow. The line of march will be Thirty- first and N streets N.W., on N street to Thirty-fourth street, north to P street, west to Thirty-fifth street, passing in review of the students of the Visitation Convent, back to O street and thence to the church. St. Columba’s Episcopal The Rev. Emanuei E. Le Moine announces the following topics for the next three morning services: May 19, “The Christiar Enrichment of Diety”; May 26, “Some Religious Experiences,” and June 2, “Religious Knowledge and Propaganda.” The vested choir will sing special music for the offertory at the 11 o'clock service.
