Pohick Church Services To Mark Regents’ Sunday Epecial Dispatch to The Star. POHICK, Va., May 9.—Observing an annual custom established over & half century ago, members of the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association, now in session at Mount Vernon, will commemorate Regents’ Sunday at historic Pohick Church Sunday at 11 am., when services will be conducted hy the recently insti- tuted rector, the Rev. John Curtin Runkel. As custodians of the home of Washington the association takes active part in perpetuating the oon- nection that existed in Wi ton's day with Pohick, the "home church” of Mount Vernon. The records of the Mount Vernon Association reveal many facts of iInterest regarding the restoration of Pohick Church. Of nparticular interest is the restoration of the chancel rail, which was completed in 1908, Dur- ing the War Between the Sthtes Union soldier removed one of ! spindles as a souvenir and many years later returned it to Pohick with a letter of explanation. The original spindle served as a pat- tern for the ones that were added and may be seen encased with & sllver band with “suitable lnscrlp- tion, the gift of “Mrs. Lucien M. Hanks, the present-vice regent from Wisconsin. Sunday’s service will include cor- porate communion and a brief me- morial service at the grave of Col. Harrison H. Dodge, who was super- intendent of Mount Vernon for more than 50 years. Arlington Board fo Act On Four Rezoning Pleas Four rezoning requests and a pe- tition for an exception to the zon- ing ordinance will be among the items to come before the next meeting of the Arlington County (Va.) Board of Zoning Appeals on May 21, Secretary Donald R. Locke announced today. The zoning changes sought are as follows: Request of Lee Properties, Inc., to change property in the 600 block of North Randolph street now zoned residential A, residential B and local business to a light in- dustrial zone. Request of Nell V. Boyd to change from residential A to local business property at 2225 North Glebe road. Request of Hugh Brent to change property in the 800 block-of North Pollard street from residential A to local business. Request of Monroe Warren, Doro- thy B. Warren, S. Milton Simpson and Marjorie E. Simpson to change from residential A to local business about 95,300 square feet in the 4800 block of First street north. The Rev. Edwin J. Lee, pastor of St. Thomas More Church, requested an exception to the mning ordi- nance for the premises at 135-137 North Thomas street to permit a Tear yard of 12-foot width ln.stead of 20 feet. Recommendations made by the Zoning Board on these requests will be sent to the County Board for final action on May 29.
