Woodward School for Boys Holds Confest, Banquet Two hundred and twenty-five per~ sons last night attended the annual banquet, debate and declamation contest of the Woodward School for Boys, held in Hotel 2400 on Six- | teenth street. Coleman Jennings, ipresldent of the Washington Com- | munity Chest, delivered an address in which he stressed the values of moral courage and service to others. The debate was won by the school’s Jefferson Literay Society, which debated the negative of the question “Should the United States Place an Embargo on the Shipment of War Materials to Japan.” The contest was with the school's Wash- ington Literary Society, which up- held the affirmative; The winning team was composed of the follow- ing debaters: Ray M. Hare, jr.; Rus- sell K. Hollingsworth, jr.; Charles E. Seiler, jr, and Thomas W. Smith. The declamation contest was won by John Verkouteren, with Alan Prosise second and Waitman Allen third. Charles Stevenson received honorable mention, George A, Lewis, chairman of the Edycational Committee of the Cen= tral '¥. M. C. A, where Woodward | School is located, was toastmaster at | the banquet, which was opened with | invocation by Noell Gill, following which guests were welcomed by James J.
