B— ORLANDO OFFERS NUDE SUN BATHS High-Walled Solarium One of Many Features Avail- able to Visitors. BY A. P. PHILLIPS, Jr. ORLANDO, December 5.—Nude sun- bathing in one of Florida’s finest so- larjums is only one of the numerous tnducements which are leading scoies of Eastern friends of Florida toward Orlando where their search for rest, recreation, and relaxation in the State’s smartest inland metropolis can easily be ended this Winter. ‘While frigid blasts will be spelling discomfort to thousands, hundreds here in Orlando this Winter will be stretching themselves leisurely, digging their toes in the soft, warm, white sand which lines the shores of Lake Estelle near the solarium. High brick walls with nary a crack protect the sun-searcher who would expose his entire body, and inside these inclosures one can daily find the cap- tain of industry prone on the sand along with the high-school student yet to make his mark; the society matron reclining in comfort envying the slim. alluring lines of co-eds. many of them from fashionable Rollins College nearby. Other Lakes Available. But there are dozens of clear, white- sandy bottomed lakes which daily hold | their quota of swimmers, waders and occasionally, fishermen in search of bream and bass which populate every fresh-water pool in Central Florida. Within a radius of 20 miles of Or- lando, one can find over 200 lakes of STEAMSHIPS. sparkling pure water, most of them surrounded by comfortable homes, ranging from one-room cabins to pa- latial mansions. For those not inclined toward the aquatic, Orlando offers an excellent Winter Visiters' Club, an organisation whose activities covers every thing from shuffieboard through quoits, lawn bowling, horseshoes, tennis, diamond ball, and hand ball, not to mention weekly dances, forums, bridge and pinochle parties, and just plain bench- side debates. Beautiful Exposition Park, down- town center of the Winter Visitors' Association, houses numerous sports device. A small seasonal fee ad- mits any person to membership, with the number of activities planned over a season reducing the cost-per-event to less than 5 cents. Excellent Golf Courses. In Dubsdread Country Club and the Country Club of Orlando, both just outside the city limits, and yet but three miles from the business district, Orlando has two of Central Florida's most modern and utilitarian courses. A recent addition at Dubsdread is a spectacularly landscaped out-door swimming pool alive daily with charm- ing young women who combine the two sports in the manner of the mod- ern miss. Night time recreation includes stops at three first-run theaters, half a dozen smart night clubs where gaming is not unknown and “name” acts and bands often are found, and the thrill of grey- hound racing, available after a 20- minute ride at beautiful Sanford- Orlando Kennel Club, north of the city. Orlando is ideally located in the cene ter of the rich citrus belt of Florida, and offers none of the mad confusions and super-speed which adds nothing to the comfort of the sun-hunting vacationist. Big Gold Nugget Found. A gold nugget the size of a teacup was found at Nylstroom, South Africa. STEAMSHIPS.
