FINANCIAL WELL ABOVE 1335 11-Month Total Climbs $170,304,580 Ahead of Period Last Year. BY EDWARD C. STONE. How business in Washington has boomed during the first 11 months of 1936 compared with the like period in 1935, was vividly pictured today in the report of the Washington Clearing House Association, George H. Bright manager. For the first 11 months of this year clearings totaled $1,018,382,559.46 as compared with $848,077,978.87 in the first 11 months in 1935, a gain so far in 1936 of $170,304,580.59. November, 1936, clearings in the Capital totaled $91,263,703.63, against $83,062,126.19 in November, 1935, an increase in the month under review of $8,201,577.44, the report made public this noon showed. Another striking comparison reveals that canceled checks passing through the Washington Clearing House in the first 11 months of this year have already exceeded the total for the full 12 months of 1935 by $83,325,~ 716.96, a5 the complete 1935 clearings amounted to $935,056,842.50. Clearings by months this year com- pare as follows with the monthly sum- maries for the corresponding months in 1935: 1936. 1935. In line with the expanded business in Washington is the report from the Baltimore Stock Exchange showing the dollar value of all sales as $2,020,086 against $1,629,068 in September and in Richmond, $192,357 in October compared with $176,890 in the earlier month.
