NOLTE, RETIRED FIREMAN, 42, DIES Decorated for Heroism in Knick- erbocker Fire and Served Over- seas in World War. John Felix Nolte, 42, retired mem- ber of the District Fire Department, died Saturday after a long illness at his home, 19 Eighth street northeast. A native of this city and an over- seas World War veteran, Mr. Nolte twice had been commended for his work as a fireman. He was appointed to the Fire Department July 1, 1915, and subsequently was given & leave of absence for the period of his military service. Mr. Nolte was given a ribbon deco- ration for his rescue work at the Knickerbocker Theater disaster in 1922 and in 1925 was commended for his work at the Kann's warehouse fire. He was retired last August 1, due to failing health. He belonged to the| Policemen’s and Firemen's Post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Joseph P, McGrath and Miss Frances E. Nolte, both of this eity.
