SEITZ DIES OF HEART DISEASE New York Editor and Author Formerly With World and Outlook. By.the Assoclated Press. BROOKLYN, N. Y., December 4.— Don C. Seitz, 73, newspaper man, author and lecturer, died at his home here todsy of héart disease. He was an executive of the old New York World and had been city editor of the Brooklyn Eagle. Author of sev- eral books, he also had appeared fre- quently on the lecture platform. Seitz, on the staff of the old World for more than a quarter of a century, was especially critical of his own craft. Once he said newspapers were becom- prosperous but were useless as watchdogs of the public’s interests. In a series of articles on newspaper work which he wrote for the magazine Outlook, of which he served as asso- ciate editor for a short time, he re- viewed the field of newspaper publish- ing as a constructive critic. A prolific writer on a wide range of subjects, he did not hesitate to enter a controversial field.
