Fred Stone, comedian, was elected president of the Will Rogers Memorial Commission at & meeting of the group’s Executive Committee yester- day in the offices of Jesse Jones, chairman of the Reconstruction Fi- nance Corp., who is treasurer of the memorial fund. Owen D. Young, chairman of the committee, announced the following officers of the commission: Lawler of Los Angeles, vice president; Ulric Bell of Washington, vice pres- jdent; Rex Beach, New York, vice president; James G. Blaine, New York, assistant treasurer, and Capt. Eddie V. Rickenbacker, Bronxville, N. Y., secretary. Vice President John N. Garner will continue as honorary chairman of the | commission. Members of the Execu- tive Committee, besides Mr. Young, | are Will H. Hays, Mr. Jones, Amon G. Carter, Patrick J. Hurley and Mr. Bell. Stone and Rogers were devoted | friends. When Stone was injured in an ai ‘ane accident shortly before | the opening of a new Stone show in New York, Rogers substituted for him. The campaign to raise funds for the Rogers memorial is being continued here and throughout the Nation. The Evening Star is receiving contribu- tions.
