SANTA BARBARA, Calif., Decem- ber 4—A court fight over custody of the two sons of Mrs. Dorothy Wendt | Longcope and her divorced husband, Jesse Livermore, may arise out of the shooting of Jesse Livermore, jr. ‘The 16-year-old boy still is in a crif fcal condition from a bullet wound legedly inflicted by his mother in drunken quarrel. She was under a physician’s care after suffering a nervous breakdown after her release on $6,000 bond. The younger son, Paul Livermore, 14, was with his father, the stock market operator, despite Mrs. Long- | cope’s demand that he return to the | home where his brother was shot ].lsll Friday. ! | | Mrs. Longcope said she hoped Jesse, §r., would forgive her and return home after his recovery. The elder Livermore declined to comment, but friends intimated he might institute proceedings to revoke a court order which gave Mrs. Long- | cope custody of the two boys when | they were divorced. Mouse Delays Romance. PFinding of an engagement ring, lost | 43 years ago, has revealed, in Hoylake, England, the life secret of Mrs. John Preston. When Preston placed the single stone diamond ring on her finger in 1892 he said “lose this ring and you lose me.” Soon afterward is disap- peared, and the girl secretly bought a duplicate. Preston threw the duplicate ring into the Mersey River, went to Africa to serve in the Boer War, and returned home wounded 11 years later. The couple were married and went to| Quebec, Canada. Preston died recently and Mrs. Preston returned to Hoylake to find her old home, the Ship Inn,| being reconstructed. Postmaster General Farley said to- day he will ask the coming session of Congress for funds to start trans- Atlantic airmall service. He sald experimental flights will be started next Summer and the route probably will be in operation within the following year. Postal officials said Pan-American Alrways, which operates the new trans- Pacific route, is the only American company interested in the route now, PARLEY 18 SCHEDULED, British Interests to Confer With U. OTTAWA, Ontario, December 4 (#).— Representatives of Canada, the United Kingdom and the Irish Free State were en route to Washington today with definite proposals for the estab- lishment of a trans-Atlantic air serv- jce for mail and passengers, in which the United States will be invited to extend its fullest co-operation. Their negotiations begin tomorrow. Departure yesterday of the dele- gates for the American Capital marked the conclusion of an 11-day session here, at which Canada recommended that the service should follow & route between the Dominion and Ireland via Newfoundland. North Sydney, Nova Scotia, would be used as the Canadian terminus, with Harbor Grace as the intermediate stop in Newfoundland. Tomorrow’s conference in Washing- ton is regarded, like the Ottawa meet- ing, 'as a new impetus to the move to link North America with Europe by a commercial air line. Unanimous approval was given ai the sessions here to a proposal to start survey flights next year and an experimental air jmail service soon afterward. The police laid in wait for the men three days after receiving a tip. They opened fire after ome of the robbers shot at Olen C. Henderson, assistant cashier, who declined to hand over any money. Holling of Charleston died, she was buried in her wedding gown and veil.
