Stet- tinius, who will entertain a party in her honar at the reception and dinner to be held for Rear Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd Thursday at the Wal- dorf-Astoria. Mrs. Jefferson Randolph Kean, wife of Gen. Kean, U. S. A, has invitations out for a reading by Miss Ethel Arms of “Nancy Shippen, Her Journal Book,” this evening at 8:30 o'clock in the Francis Scott Key bookshop, Twenty-ninth ond O streets. Mrs. Jarman, wife of Capt. E. A. Jarman, U. S. N., entertained a com- pany of 14 at luncheon today at the Bhoreham, Mrs. A. Mitchell Palmer, wife of the former Attorney General, was “hostess to a company of 20 at lunch~ eon yesterday at the Sulgrave Club, en- tertaining in honor of Mrs. Walter G. Mortland of New York. Mrs. William Corcoran Eustis has fssued invitations for a musicale Fri- day evening in her home, on Rhode Island avenue, when M. Roman Toten- berg, Polish violinist, who recently was & soloist with the National Sym- phony Orchestra, will give the pro- gram. M. Totenberg was a guest during his Washington visit of Mrs. ‘Tracy Dows and gave the program at & musical which the charge d'af- faires of Poland and Mme. Sokolowska gave in the Polish Embassy. Mrs. Francis Paul Sullivan pre- sented her daughter, Miss Mannevil- lette Sullivan, to soclety at a lunch- eon yesterday at the Mayflower Hotel, when the guests were the debutantes of the season and other members of the younger set. Miss Sullivan is the daughter of the well-known architect. She attended Wellesley and is now a special student at Catholic University. A crystal buckle on the belt and small crystal ornaments on the narrow tie that fastened at the neckline were the only decorations. A chic black vel- vet hat completed the ensemble. Mrs. Sullivan had as her guests Mrs. L. L. Hopwood, Mrs. Leonard W. Groomes, Mrs. Horace W. Peaslee and Mrs. William Laird Dunlop, jr Miss Stellita Stapleton was the guest in whose honor Mrs. Walter Abel entertained at dinner last eve- ning in Baltimore before the first Mon- day german of the bachelors’ cotillion in Baltimore. Miss Stapelton, who was presented in Washington last Winter by her mother, Mrs. Daniel C. Staple- ton, also made her debut at the first Monday german in Baltimore last Winter. Miss Gene O'Brien and Mr. Walter J. Cummings, jr., of Chicago and Mr. Frederick Hamilton of Omaha, Nebr., who were guests of Mrs. Stapleton and her daughter for Thanksgiving and attended the Army-Navy game in Philadelphia Saturday with Miss Stapleton, have returned to thefr ‘homes.
