ROOSEVELT returned to the White House this morn- ing and had as her guests at luncheon the Hon. Lady Lindsay, Lady Astley Cubitt, Mrs. Henry Morgenthau, jr.; Mrs. Henry A. Wallace, Mrs. Rexford Tugwell and the Minister to Denmark, Mrs. Ruth Bryan Owen, who is a guest at the White House. The President’s wife will receive at the tea hour at the mansion today the Minister of Yugoslavia and Mme. Fotich. Mrs. Roosevelt attended the lunch- eon given yesterday in New York by the Junior League. Later the Presi- dent’s wife spoke at the annual meet- ing of the Girls' Service League of America at the Hotel Plaza. Mrs. James Roosevelt, mother of the President, attended the dinner and musicale given last evening in New York by Mme. Alma Clayburgh in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Benet of Paris. His Britannic Majesty’s Ambassador and the Hon. The Minister of Norway, Mr. Wil- helm Munthe de Morgenstierne, is in New York where he attended the din- ner given last evening by Mr. Gunnar Holst of Oslo, Norway. The newly-appointed Minister of Latvia, Dr. Alfred Bilmanis, has come to the Capital from New York and has taken an apartment for the present at 2400 Sixteenth street. Mme. Bilmanis will join him later in the season. She is remaining longer in their home in Representative William F. Brunner of Rockaway Park, N. Y, is in his apartment at the Wardman Park Ho- tel for a few days. Judge Ernest H. Van Fossan of the United States Board of Tax Appeals and Mm. Van Fossan will entertain at & buffet dinner this evening in honor of Mr. Justice and Mrs. Harlan Fiske Stone. 5 Judge and Mrs. Van Fossan will be hosts at dinner again tomorrow eve- ning in honor of Dean and Mrs. Chris- tian Christianson of the University of ‘Wisconsin. Alumni to Honor Head of University Dr. David Shaw Duncan, the new chancellor of the University of Denver, who is in the East for a brief stay, will be the guest of honor at & dinner to be given by the alumni of the uni- versity tomorrow evening at the Dodge Hotel. Mr. Wayne C. Williams, special assistant to the Attorney General in the Department of Justice, has charge of the arrangements. All alumni and former students are invited.
