WILMINGTON, Del, August 22.— The Empire Gas & Fuel Co. filed an answer in Chancery Court today to the receivership suit filed against it recently by Mrs. Mary Bangerter. July state- ment is expected to show a loss of around $1,000,000, due to a sharp de- cline in coal shipments during that month. In June the road reported net income of $73,987 and in July last year there was a loss of $151,456. AVIATION LOSS North American Co. Deficit Compares With Profit in 1934 Half. NEW YORK, August 22.—North American Aviation, Inc., reports for the six months ended June 30 con- solidated net loss of $69,615 including | $33,205 profit realized from sales of securities. This compares with net profit ot $743,872, including $1,199,942 profit | realized from sales of securities in the | Airst half of 1934. Weston Electrical Co. Weston Electrical Instrument Corp. of $74746, equal, after six month’s dividend requirements on the $2 class “A" stock, to 25 cents a share of com- | mon. This compares with $82,763 or 30 cents a common shgre in the like period of 1934. United States Leather Co. net income for the quarter ended share of 7 per cent preferred stock on which there is an accumulation of unpaid dividends. In the preceding quarter net income was $13,701, equal to 18 cents a share and in the July quarter last year the com- pany had net loss of $1.315,705. in- cluding $1,100,000 reserve to bring in- | ventories to market value. At New York City clearings were $3,313,675,000, an in- crease of 23.7 per cent over the amount reported last year, while the aggregate for centers outside of New York City of $1,773,313,000 was 17.3 per cent higher.
