Meanwhile, police con- tinued their investigation but nothing new had been developed. Medical testimony at yesterday’s in- quest was to the effect that two bul- lets entered Miss Lyttle's body, one just above the heart and the other slightly below the left collarbone. This last shot coursed to the right and downward, lodging in the nplne. Both Miss Esther Lyttle and Mr. Lyttle broke down during the hear- ing. Lyttle, who is the father of 13 children and never before has been out of Hopewell, began weeping and was led from the room during testi- mony describing how his daughter's body was found. The younger sister was hysterical and unable to testify. ‘The principal witness was Miss Girlie Garrett, roommate of Miss Vir- gie Lyttle at the Hisey home, 414 Rit- tenhouse street. She said Hisey forced Miss Lyttle to accompany him into his wife's room and closed the door. She testified she heard the girl say, “I can't do that—get away,” and Hisey replied, “Now listen, Virgie.” Then there was & scream and two shots. ‘The contention by Hisey that the shooting was accidental was related by Detective Sergt. John W. Wise. Hisey did not testify. Wise said Hisey claims Miss Lyttle attempted to wrest a gun from him after he had asked her to deliver a suicide note to his wife and the pistol was discharged in the scuffle. Roosevelt Club Formed.
