The total for the 22 leading cities in the United 4 | States for the week ended Wednesday, May 22, as reported by Dun & Brad- *| street, Inc., was $5,081,168,000, against $4,326,348,000, for the same week of last year, an increase of 17.4 per cent. This contrasted with a loss of 5.3 per cent in the previous week. At New York City, clearings were $3,254,991,000, against $2,804,723,000° & year ago, increase of 16.1 per cent, while the aggregate for centers outside of New York of $1,826,177,000 showed an increase of 20 per cent over the corresponding week of last year.
