SOCIETY. =y Academy Clubs Perform First of Musical Programs Given by Midshipmen ANNAPOLIS, Md., April 6—The Musical Clubs, composed entirely of midshipmen, were the chief attrac- tion at Annapolis this week end. They gave the first of three performances this afternoon in Mahan Hall and the second show was given tonight. There also was an informel hop at Dahlgren Hall this afternoon. Harvard was well represented this | week as the base ball season opened | and also tennis, the first game of the | latter sport being piayed against Tufts College of Massachusetts Wed- nesday, and Harvard played tennis here today. Mrs. Charles Babcock of Rochester, | N. Y., is the guest of her nephew, Capt. Amon Bronson, and Mrs. Bron- son at Seven Acres, ‘Wardour. Lieut. Comdr. and Mrs. George P. Shields gave a dinner as a farewell to Capt. and Mrs. Charles M. Oman, who will leave Annapolis the middle of April for Brooklyn, N. Y., where Capt. Oman will go for duty. Their guests, besides the guest of honor, were Capt. and Mrs. Guy Baker, Capt. and Mrs. Amon Bronson, Mrs. Bab- cock, Capt. and Mrs. Ray Spear and Mr. Wallington James, the latter the son of Mrs. Shields. Miss Marguerite Cusachs, daughter of Mrs. Mason Porter Cusachs of Ogle Hall, is at Norfolk, where she is the guest of Mrs. George L. Kenyon, wife of Comdr. Kenyon, at her home there. Mrs. Cluverius, wife of Rear Ad- miral Watt T. Cluverius, is the guest of her son-in-law and daughter, Lieut. and Mrs. William S. Parsons, at their some at Cedar Park. Rear Admiral ¥yverius was formerly commandant X mfashinmen at the Naval Academy. an engagement of much interest, news of which has reached Annapolis, & that of Miss Gardner Anderson, daughter of Capt. Anderson, U. S. A, now stationed at Manila, P. I, and Mrs. Anderson, to Ensign William Jefferson Giles, jr., son of Capt. and Mrs. Giles. Capt. and Mrs. Giles and family have spent several years at Annapolis and have many friends here. Ensign Giles is attached to the U. S. S. Bulmer, and the wedding will take place the middle of this month. Mrs. L. Craven Bruce left the first of the week for New York City and will return to Annapolis the first of next week to be with Mrs. Morgan Baldwin, her daughter. Rear Admiral Noble E. Irwin, re- tired, has returned to his home on Southgate avenue after a motor trip South. Lieut, and Mrs. Thomas J. Hamil- ton have as their guests at Cedar Park Mrs. Hamilton's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John Noble, who are en route from Asheville, N. C.. to Baltimore. Stringfellow Barr of the University of Virginia was the guest of Rear Ad- miral and Mrs. Sellers. Mrs. Barr joined Mr. Barr Saturday and they were guests for the week end of Mr. Tench Tilghman.
