RITES FOR BOYD T0BE HELD TODAY Body of Actor to Be Placed in Vault Pending Ohio Burial—Lived Here. By the Associated Press HOLLYWOOD, Maich 22.—The body of William Boyd, 45, stage and screen actor, who died Wednesday night, was to be placed in a vault here today pending burial in the family cemetery plot in Upper San- dusky, Ohio. A sister of the actor, Miss Betty Boyd, flew here last night from Chi- cago to join her mother, Mrs. Flor- ence Boyd. Another sister, Mrs. Ferd Smith, lives in Harpster, Ohio. Boyd, who played opposite many of Broadway's leading actresses and gained distinction as a character ac- tor on the screen, died from a stomach ailment. ‘William Boyd, who died Wednesday in a Hollywood hospital, spent his childhood days in Washington. Boyd was born in New York City. His parents soon afterward came to ‘Washington to live, first on Massa- chusetts avenue and later on Fifteenth | street. During that residence Boyd attended school in the District. His grandfather was Col. Will H. LOS ANGELES, March 22.—Noah Beery's pot of gold is empty. Filled during the heydey of his career as the screcn's leading and highest-paid “villain,” the storeplace of his wealth has been visited too often—and, according to Beery him- self, too freely. ‘The actor recently was sued for non- payment of a $2,000 doctor bill by Dr. Ross Moore. Beery, at present in the East, lost the case by default. The one-time star’s answer, typed by himself because he couldn't afford a lawyer to represent him, was filed with the court. “Today I haven't the money for liv- ing expenses,” it said. “I am behind since the 15th on my family's living expenses, haven't the money for my own hotel rent, can’t hire a lawyer (owe my old law firm over $2,000) and wish to throw myself on the mercy of the court.” THE EVENING UNHAPPY FATHER LEAPS TODEATH WITH BABY SON Sued for Divorce by Wife, He Leaves Notes Professing His Love for Her. The baby's body was recovered, but that of the father had not been found last night. Mrs. Fallis, who had had Fallis placed under a peace bond and sued him for divorce, collapsed when told of the tragedy.
