She was graduated at Kansas State #achers’ College in Emporia, Kans., after which she studied school super- vision at the University of Chicago. While teaching at Pipestone Indian Boarding School at Pipestone, Minn., she met Mr. Madison, then boys’ ad- viser in the school. Since their mar- riage in 1905 they have devoted them- selves almost exclusively to work among the Indians. They came to ‘Washington about a month ago to make a permanent home here. Mrs. Madison is survived by her husband; three sons, Dwight W, Quentin and Lee Madison, and three sisters. Two of her sons, Dwight and Quentin, were here when she died. Burial will be in Independence, Mo. e FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR MRS. ELSIE SMALL Wife of Editorial Staff Man for The Star Is Buried in Rock Creek Cemetery. Mrs. Elsie Webster Small, wife of Albert Small of the editorial staff of The Star, was buried yesterday after- noon in Rock Creek Cemetery after funeral services in the Hines chapel, 2901 Fourteenth street. She died Thursday afternoon at Garfield Hospital as surgeons were about to operate for an aggravated in- testinal disorder. Peritonitis was the cause of death. Mrs. Small had been ill about two weeks and her condition had become critical two days before she died. A native of Osgood, Ind., where she was born August 27, 1892, she came here in 1910 and was married to Mr. Small. They had one son, Albert W., who, with his father, survives. Mrs. Bessie Lyon Ambler, wife of Edward Ambler of Fauquier County, Va., died yesterday at Emergency Hos- pital after a long illness. She was 65 years old Born in Brooklyn, N. Y., she met Mr. Ambier while visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs, Edward C. Marshall in Markham, Va. During her 40 years of residence there, Mrs. Ambler took an active part in county and church affairs. Besides her husband, Mrs. Ambler is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W. M. Thompson, wife of Lieut. Comdr. Thompson, U. 8. N, of Lyon Village, Va., and Mrs. Carl Gillespie, and a son, James C. Ambler, both of Mark- ham. Funeral services are to be held to- day at the Leeds Church in Mark- ham at 2 pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery, near her husband’s brother, Dr. James M.
