COTTON INTERESTS AGREE ON HOLDING New Credits Will Keep Seven| Million Bales From Mar- ket for Year. By the Associated Press. NEW ORLEANS, La, October 13.— | A conditional accord on a plan to keep | approximately seven million bales of cotton off the market for at least a year has been reached by the Farm | Board, the American Cotton Co-Oper- | ative Association and Southern banking '} interests K The program, based on granting of new credits and extension of old obli- | gations, was announced last night by | representatives of the various agencies | invoived after an all-day executive ses- sion here. Under it, Southern banks would agree to make or Tenew loans on at least 3,500,000 bales, with maturities not earlier than July 31, 1932, With this financing completed, the Farm Board will agree to extend obligations of the | American Cotton Co-Operative, approxi- | until July 31, | 1932, with the further pledge that if the Southern Legislatures effect “sub- stantial reduction from the acreage this year,” the board will continue to hold its_cotton an additional year. It was further agreed by the Farm Board that so long as extensions are granted to the Cotton Co-operative, the Cotton Stabilization Cérporation will maintain its present holdings of approximately 1,300,000 bales. Only One Proviso. The agreement to hold by the Farm Board carried only the proviso “unless such cotton can be sold at a price of more than 121, cents per pound, based on the near month of the New York | Cotton Exchange.” James C. LOS ANGELES, October 13.—Au- gusto “Chito” Sasso, reputed under- world leader, was reported yesterday by police to have disappeared from a hospital, where he was being treated for two bullet wounds inflicted by an unidentified gunman. Dr. J. J. Tobinski, who had removed a bullet from Sasso's chest, said Dr. R. G. Russell, a friend of the wounded man, had ecalled for him early yester- day, saying, '“It is imperative that Chito be removed from thé hospital at once.” Sasso was shot in the chest and one thigh when he answered a knock at the door of his home, in Venice, Oc- | tober 4.
