Manitoba Premier Fears SOL HERZOG Inc. More Western Dissatis- faction Will Develop. By the Associated Press. WINNIPEG, Manitoba, December 19. —Fear that further demands for se- eession of the West from the Dominion may be heard before present problems are solved is entertained by Premier John Bracken of Manitoba. “It is to be regretted that conditions are such in many ways that people feel they have justification for such requests,” said Mr. Bracken, referring to a resolution passed by & farm body at Wilkie, Saskatchewan, favoring se- cession unless agrarian relief is ac- corded. Talk of secession has been heard at & number of farmers’ meetings in West- tern Canada during recent weeks. Rumblings of prairie discontent with the present economic conditions have, in most cases, centered about a demand for federal action in guaranteeing the price of wheat at figures running from 70 cents to $1.15 a bushel, but there have been protests over eviction from land for tax sales. Proposals of resistance to sheriffs have found favor among farmers, no- tably at Canora, Saskatchewan, on No- vember 8, when 500 representative agrarians of four northern municl-; lities decided on an organiz:d sheriff yeott. This action was indorsed by | United Farmers meeting at Lunsden a week later and by several meetings since.
