ANNAPOLIS, Md., July 5.— This week end at Annapolis brought many visitors and though the parties are of an informal nature they are in honor of “the Fourth.” Mrs. Battle, wife of Lieut. Comdr. Charleton E. Battle, and her two daugh- | ters and son, Mr. James Woodworth, left Annapolis Wednesday, to the re- gret of many friends. Mrs. Battle first went to Rochester with her younger daughter, who will remain there for the Summer, and with Miss Woodworth and Mr. James Woodworth is spending some time in New York City. Mr, Woodworth will travel in ~ Europe through the late Summer and expects to return to New York in the Fall. Mrs. Battle and her two daughters will join Lieut. Comdr. Battle on the West Coast in_the Autumn. Mr. Edward Lloyd of New York is spending the Fourth of July holiday here as the guest of his parents, Com- modore and Mrs. Edward Lloyd, in their home, the Brice House Wing, on East | street. Commodore and Mrs. Lloyd will leave next week for York Harbor, Me., where they will spend the rest of the Summer. Mrs. Carryl H. WINNIPEG, July 5.—--Al Cheeseman, who piloted Sir Hubert Wilkins on his aertal flights into Antartica last Winter, narrowly escaped death when his air- plane caught fire in flight near Mil- dge, Northwest Ontario, said a mess- ge _reaching here, yesterday. Cheeseman, now a pilot for Northern Aerial Minerals Exploration Co., was on an exploration flight out of Sioux Lookout. Ont., when his plane caught fire.
