- FILM EXTRAS WORK ON NEW SCHEDULE Payhent for Overtime After Eight Hours Provided in Revised Rules. By the Associated Press. LOS ANGELES, May 15.—A revision of the rules governing working condi- tions and involving a new schedule of overtime payment for 17,541 film extras was apnounced today by Hollywood motion’ picture producers. Dave Allan, head of the Central Cast- ing Corporation, said the new regula- tions had been framed to include con- tract players working at a weekly wage of less than $65. Under the old rules, extra players included only non-con- tract talent working for less than $15 & day or less than $65 a week. ‘Under the new regulations, Allan said, eontract players employed by the week will receive payment for overtime work after eight hours. Previously, only day ‘workers were paid for overtime. Other new rules include a provision for rest riods .between calls, payment for in- rviews and wardrobe fittings, payment during travel and provision for hot meals on. sets. The revised rules stipulate that no Eloduclng company may. work extra ent more than 16 hours each day. and must provide & rest period of 12 hours between calls. Plowing through the Atlantic 70 miles southeast of Ambrose Chan- nel, the Salt Lake City averaged 32.5 knots in a four-hour full-speed-ahead run. She made 21 knots full speed astern, and her engines developed 110,000 wer during the tests. ‘The Salt Lake City is the first of the eight 10,000-ton light cruisers commis- sioned under the Navy's 1924 construc- tion program.
