ADDIS ABABA, Abyssinia, April 4— This ancient empire today planned its most impressive honors for Zaudity, its Empress and co-ruler, who died here Wednesday at the age of 54. Zauditu, | 84 whose name means Judith, was de- scendant of a line which traced its an- cestors to King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba. Her death leaves Ras Taffarl, her nephew, and Negus (King) since 1928, in supreme control of the country. The Ras has transferred his following to the Imperial Guebbi, or palace, which he has occupled with troops. Both the capital and the country are tranquil. Zauditu was the daughter of the Em- | 3 peror Menelik II, who died in 1913. She succeeded her nephew, Lij Yasu, who was dethroned in 1916. On October 7, 1928, the Ras Taffari, one of the world’s most picturesque rulers, was tmade her THE EVENING STAR, “OVERSHOES" FOR AIRPLANES FOIL MENACE OF ICE Slipperiness Produced by Thin Oil-Exud- ing Rubber to Prevent Clinging, and Air Breaks Up Formation. 3 ice hazard may be eliminated planes.
