Occu- pants Leaped to Death sages \ Tulsa, Okla, ‘April 4—(>)—Fickle fate has played a tragic joke on two student airplane pilots who jumped to their death without parachutes from a flaming plane’ which later made a perfect three point landing and rolled to a stop. The plane, piloted by Louis Crippin, 27, of Tulsa, yesterday caught fire while above a golf course, apparently from a cigarette tossed into the high- ly inflamable fuselage. Crippin and Joe Bryant, 28, of Claremore, Okla., jumped to their death. Bryant leaped at an estimated height of 1,000 feet. When the ship was about 300 feet from the ground Crippen dropped over the side. After the landing the new biplane was consumed by the flames. Inves- tigators believed the two men would not have been killed had they remain- ed with the ship. Bank Robbers Escape Cincinnati, Ohio, April 4.—(7)—The Reading bank was robbed of $9,000 today by four men armed with a ma- chine gun. A grocer across a street saw the robbers and opened fire on them.
