BURYIS HOLLYWOOD, March 18 (N.ANA). ~—On every hand rise loud complaints that the old Hollywood is gone. A new and vastly different village replaces the celluloid colony which made this the most amusing, interesting and singular quarter of the entire globe. While many persons speak of the passing of Hollywood as an entity, they neglect to state precisely what charac- terizes the difference between the old colony and that of the present. Some three years ago I first came to Hollywood in a professional capacity. Numerous t«rlplfl'& thlausout'l':lllnd m provided me smiles galore sunshine ditto. A whirl through the studios, which were in those days more or less open to the journalists of other cities, was interesting. The streets pro- vided plentiful amusement for the tour- ist. You met a girl with eyes of unbe- lievable beauty, perfect Greek nose and nauseous clothing, and she said “Aw, pleesed ter meet yer” as she shifted her gum. Silence reigned on the cinema, many gals. Now only an act of God can help the tourist find a movie star. The great | lunch at studio commissaries and dine | in their own exclusive club, sacred to the cinema great. There is much broad “a-ing” among the ambitious of the gelatin gentry.
