March 18. After a thorough discussion of the sit- uation the town council last night adopted the building code of Montgom- ery County, Md. covering rules and regulations for the construction of : buildings_within the Maryland-Wash- ington Metropolitan District within . . Montgomery County. ! In adopting the code As the building regulations of the corporation of Ta- : come Park an ordinange adopted at ‘ the meeting last night provides that ; - the code shall be applicable tc all build- 3 o ings hereafter constructed in both the Montgomery County and Prince Georges County sectiops of this town. The ordinanee also provides that per- mits shall be granted as provided in the bullding_code of Montgomery County, except that applications 1l be made to the town clerk and shall be issued by him upon approval of plans by the building inspector. Arrange for Inspectors. ‘The mayor of the town is authorized, if in his judgment it is found desirable in the interests of the town, to make suitable arangements with the county commissioners of Montgomery County for the services of the county building inspectors in the inspection of buildings erected within the limits of this town. With the adoption of the code last night. all existing ordinances condicting with the new regulations are repealed Former Councilman Llovd W. Biddle addressed the council in the interest of property owners i the vicinity of Al- any and Baltimore avenues, appealing to the council to tmprove the property owned by the town at that point. With the beautifl of the grounds of the homes in that séction of the park, the residents felt ‘that the town should be equally liberal in this, respect and do its part in the bemutification of the land owned by the tewn, The speaker also urged the improve- ment of Baltimore averiue from New York to Philadelphia avenues. Mr. Biddle also stated that no improve- ments had been made on this thorough- fare, which was now in an impassable condition for vehicular traffic, and as a result school children were compelled to walk a much longer distance to reach school or else cut across private prop- erty. The Takoma Park Fire Depart- ment would also be compelled to take longer routes. In connection with the improvement of the town property referred to, Mayor Davis stated that the town was to grade and fill in the land and that the North ‘Takoma Improvement Club would pro- ‘1detthe shrubbery and grass for the Piney Branch Road. Dr. Liewewwyn Jordan of North Ta- ® L] L4 [ ] koma announced that he had been ad- ‘vised by Distriet Commissioner Proctor L. B> i Dougherty relative to the widening and extension of Piney Branch road from 5 Butternut street o the District line . that the National Capital Park and Planning Commission bad declined to accept the recommendation of the Dis- trict Commissioners that Piney Branch A road be widened to 90 feet. The high- [J [ J way plan, he stated, provides for a street of 120 feet in width, which repre- sents the view of the National Capital Park and Planning Commission as the width of streets which should be pro= vided in that neighborhood. He con -y b2 cluded by quoting Commissioner - erty that “in view of the fact that the Board of Commissioners and the Park and Planning Commission are un- able to agree, it will probably result that for the time being nothing will be done with respect to changing street condi- Y tions that now exist.” The report of Town Clerk and Treas- ¥ urer Bryan Davis for the month of Feb- o gener e b A e O the 18 Lord Baltimore Stations already dealer you, are assured, wherever you are, of 211003 made o arand toal of S35 operating in the District will now be added super products and super-service. e ieclon e oo the 65 Filling Stations previously operated by The American Oil Company has also taken i, amountea "to $183730, Jesving. & the Penn Qil Co. over the bulk plant and distributing equipment Balanee”in The o i e 4 of the Penn Oil Company and will now be in improtement find. 458 3035, and 1k This will give Lord Baltimore the most exten- G K ey : demptions, $10.35.
