CHRISTMAS: MAIL WARNING SSUED Public’s Attention Directed to | Cessation of Delivery on December 25. While the last-minute pressure on the local post office has been relieved in the past several years because of the | tendency of the public to shop and mail | Christmas parcels earlier than for- merly, attention should be given this| year to mailing schedules owing to the | fact that there will be no deliveries | made on Christmas day, it was em- phasized today by William M. Mooney, | city postmaster. By direction of Postmaster General New, all mail activities, except special delivery, will cease at midnight Christ- mas eve and will not be resumed until | midnight Christmas, thereby making a | period of 24 hours without distribution or_delivery of mail. Mr. Mooney also called attention to | the fact that since Christmas falls this | year on Tuesday, the postal employes | will have to care on Monday for the mail accumulated on Sunday, causing double duty for carriers on the day be- fore the holiday.
