GORDON IS SUED FOR DIVORCE Mrs. Ellen Gray Gordon Says Millionaire Threat- ened Her. Asks Settlement of Property' Rights and “Suitable” Alimony. _ Fulton R. Gordon, 60 years old, mil- lionaire realty operator, was sued yes- terday in the District Supreme Court for a limited divorce and division of property rights by his third wife, Mrs. Ellen Marjorie Gray Gordon, 30 years %g,sw whom he was married June 7, The wife charges that he represented to her that in order to gain the affec- tions of his children of -former mar- riages it was necessary for her to enter into a pre-nuptial agreement in refer- ence to his property. She also states that he plays the radio until -3 or 4 o'clock in the morning, and that he required her to sleep on the porch, and on two oc- casions on the floor. Her husband, she declares, received letters from other women, boasted of them and handed them to her to read. She said she was | forced to leave him yesterday, as she BY THIRD WIFE MRS. FULTON R. LECTURER TO TELL OF 10,000-MILE RIDE | Man Who Traveled From Buenos Aires to Washington on Horse- | back Speaks Tomorrow. A. F. Tschiffely will tell of a 10,000~ mile horseback ride he took from Buenos | Aires to Washington when he lectures before the National Geographic So- clety at the opening lecture of the sea- son’s series tomorrow evening at the ‘Washington Auditorium. Mr. Tschiffely made the journey with two of the famous Argentine “criollo” horses of a breed originally introduced by the Spaniards. The lecturer is a teacher in an English school near Buenos Aires, with a special interest in archeology. He traversed historic regions of South America, including more than 500 miles of sandy deserts in Peru, swamn mountain streams, climbed steep trails and everywhere made observa- tions of great geographic interest. He came through the two-and-a-half- year ride with the same horses with which he started, one of them 18 years old, and both in excellent condition. Mr. Tschiffely’s descriptions of his notable journey will be accompanied by motion pictures and slides, affording a longitudinal panorama of South Amer- ica and Central America. INACCURACY IS HANDICAP TO WRITERS, CLASS TOLD Mrs. §. V. H..Pickett Addresses George Washington University Journalism Students. \ “The chief defect that is likely to handicap untrained writers is inaccu- racy,” the class in journalism at George Washington University was told yes- terday afternoon by Mrs. Sallie V. H. Pickett, society editor of The Wash- intgon Star. The students were advised that ac- curacy and promptness were among the most_important requirements for suc- are two or three minutes too late, you need not have written the article at all,” she stated. “If you are always on time, an editor is going to watch for your story.” Mrs. Pickett emphasized the impor- tance of creating a reputation for writ- ing stories which had quality in their construction, and which combined these requisites of accuracy and promptness, and said that the officials of the staff “will always remember that.” She urged the most painstaking care in everything that was done for publica- tion. Recognizing the place which publicity has in modern life, the speaker declared that this form of activity could not be successful unless there was extreme care on the part of the writers to observe the same rules that applied to members of a newspaper staff, for the publicity writer must be welcome as a result of dependability. The “happy front” and “beaming face” were recommended to the stu- dents as indispensable for all persons who would create places for themselves in the writing world. She predicted the increasing success of women in re- cording the activties of women. — .
