Describing advertising as a “business stabilizer,” James O'Shaughnessy, for- mer vxecutive secretary of the Ameri- can Association of Advertising Agen- cies, declared that “the more commer- cial enterprise is stabilized by adver- tising the greater will be the level of your prosperity,” in an address at a luncheon of the Washington Advertis- ing Club in the National Press Club vesterday. ‘The speaker declared that in no city in the world is a better opportunity afforded of reaching the peo%le through the newspapers than in Washington. Mr. O'Shaughnessy described adver- tising as “a sound, concrete thing” that must bring results and that bas sta- bilized the present period of prosperity. No better proof of its success is of- fered, he said, than in the fact that the volume is steadily increasing.
