Regular Army officers have | boen designated to view the local troops. and every effort is being made by the unit commanders to make as creditable a showing as possible, with the facili- tics at hand The greatest handicap to the inspec- tions of the local Guard is the lack of snitable armory facilities, a fact which always brings unfavorable commegt in the reports, but a matter which is en- tirely ocvond the control of the mom- bers of the organization. Every annun! inspection report calls attention to this fact. and consistent efforts have been made for s to convine~ that this iack of faciliti>s is a sori dstriment to the training of th- guards- men during the greater part of th~ year whon they must do their drilling indoors. There is no one place at the local armory i the Government hotel buildings on the Union Station Plaza where a full unit may be drawn up and put through the paces for the inspec- tion officers. Usually it is done in the street, but if the ther is bad it can- not be done there.
