PHILADELPHIA, December 2.— By a secret formula of Roger Bacon, Franciscan monk and thirteenth cen- tury sclentist, salts of copper have been produced at the Umversity of Pennsylvania. The formula’'s secret was revealed with translation of the cipher in which Bacon wrote all his wor ks, The deciphering was done by the late Dr. Willlam Romaine Newbold, who was professor of intellectual and moral philosophy at the Univérsity of Pennsylvanla, and whose work on he Roger Bacon manuscripts had een setiously questioned by scholars in this couniry and abroad.
