One of the worst railroad wrecks in the United States, when 43 persons were killed. The Deleware, Lackawanna & Western train was derailed near Hackettstown, N. J. during a storm. Many of the passengers were wealthy Germans who were on the way to Hoboken to take a steamer for vacations in Germany.
