Correspondence of the Associated Press OXFORD, England, May 5.—Not- withstanding the rage among Oxford students for “elephant leg™ trousers, which are considerably more loose and roomy than the bloomer effect worn by the United States Navy sallors, the boys here are buving fewer clothes than formerly. Three long-established tailor firms, one of which had been in business here nearly a half a cen- tury, have gone out of business lately hecause, it was claimed, they could not make a living. The boys haven't got the money they had in other days to spend for clothes, aver the tailors. The students wear knickerbockers a great deal, one or two suits for the season, and can- not afford to have a different suit for every occasion as a great many of them did before the war.
