Dooley and Morton, big favorites in vaudeville, have been engaged for this year's edition of George White's “Scandals.” Julia Sanderson and Frank Crumit have been engaged for the Boston compapy of “No, No, Nanette,” in which, they will be co-starred with Donald Brian. “Blood,” a_play by Harry Sturgis, will be tried out by Mack Hilllard next month with & cast of notable actors. “The Witch Doctor,” instead of closing last week in New York, as had been planned, will be continued indefl- nitely. Carl Reed's announcement of the engagement of Henry Hull for next season is denied by Kilbourn Gordon. Mr. Hull, according to Mr. Gordon, will be seen under his management in a play entitled “Trouble Island.” “Cousin Sonia,” from the French of Louis Vernuil, went into rehearsal last week with Marguerita Sylva in the leading role. Another musical show by Willlam B. Friedlander and Con Conrad fis planned for early production by L. Lawrence Weber, who is said to be rounding up a strong group of singers and comedians. Chrystal Herne has been engaged for Galsworthy’s “A Bit of Love,” to be presented this month by the Actors’ Theater in a series of special mati- nees, David Belasco announced last week that he has taken Fannie Brice under his management and will star her in Next Week's Photoplays METROPOLITAN—Corinne Griffith, in “Declasse,” by Zoe Akins. Michael Mindlin, tha producer, has engaged Cleo Throckmorton to de- sign the sets and costumes for a new play by George Tilton and Paul Fox, which Mr. Mindlin will produce at an early date. Sidney Howard, author of “They Knew Not What They Wanted,” which recently was awarded the Pulitzer prize, has written another play, called “Lucky Sam McCarver,” in which his wife, Clare Eames, will appear next season. It will be a Theater Guild show probably. George Abbott, co-author of “The Fall G has written a new play, called 'he Brass Rail,” in collabo- ration with Paul Dickey. Lionel Barrymore and Irene Fen- wick will be seen in a new play by the iEnglish playwright, Jerome K. Jerome, entitled “Man or Devil,” the presentation befng made by the Messrs. Shubert. The premiere will take place next Thursday at the Broadhurst Theater, New York. John Galsworthy’s play, “A Bit o' Love,” is to be produced for a series of special matinees at the Forty-eighth Street Theater, New York, in early May, and is now in rehearsal under Robert Milton’s direction. The cast will be headed by O. P. Heggle and Chrystal Hearne. Donald Oenslager will design the settings. He attract- ed attention with settings he design- ed for a series of Harvard Dramatic Club plays. ARIE HART, who divides sou- bretting honors with Kitty Madi- son in Rube Bernstein's burlesque, “Bathing Beauties,” claims that she was the first to discover the historic abilities of Baby Peggy, the diminu- tive motion picture star. The Hart family and the Montgomerys—that's Baby Peggy's family name—were neighbors in Sacramento, Calif.
