NEW YORK, April 25.—Arrienne son Bennett, actress who ves. spent 13 minutes in court in obtaining ‘a divorce and $50,Q00 ali- mony from Richard Bennett, actor, said today she would go to Paris in two weeks to cansole her daughter Barbara, who iS5 unnerved by re hearsals for her debut in duet dances with Maurice, Barbara cabled her mother yester- day as follows: “Mother dear, I'm so lonesome. Maurice is rehearsing me to death. I'm unnerved and tired of it all. Mother, if you don’t come I shall probably commit suicide. I can en dure this no longer.” Barbara's mother said that although she did not take the suiche threat seriously she would leave the cast of “Love for Love,” a Greenwich Village production and go to her daughter. Maurice is the professional name of Maurice Mouvet, who obtained Miss Bennett as partner when Leonora Hughes quit him to marry Carlos Basualdo, a wealthy Argentine. I GIRL SCOUTS | Troop 10, Hazel Scanlan captain, Elizabeth Cahill scribe, met at the Central Presbyterian Church. After opening exerci , patrol corners were held. Some of the girls passed their tenderfoot test. Plans were made that if the weather permitted the troop would go on a long walk. The meeting adjourned at 11:43. On Tuesday, April 14, Troops 15 and 3 had a combined hike, a distance of ten miles. Troop 15 started at 10 o'clock from Eighth and E. Capitol streets and hiked to Fifteenth and G where they met Capt. Pain Sflhie bpop, N, 3. From there ode to Key Bridge, where, be- cause of the troop mascot, ‘“Jeff,” Troop 15 decided to hike to Cherry- dale instead of taking the train, as Cap Pain ‘and her troop did. Troop 15 met the others at Cherry dale. From the station George Mitchell took them to his little shack or camping house in the woods. Every one was delighted with the lovely location of his little camp and with the fine water in the spring about ten yards below it. The Scouts were informed that three famous Presidents of the United States had drunk from that spring—Lincoln, Garfield and Roosevelt—as that par- tlcular spot had been a favorite haunt of theirs on long walks they would take. After a deliclous lunch they went inside the little house to rest. The coolness of the shadows was welcome after the blazing sun outside. A true adventure of Capt. Pain was read from a magazine by Leah Woods. Mabel Pain played her violin and then ac 3 in singing A 4 15 in “The Star Spangled Banner,” while .’ outside the house, howled a mournful _ accompaniment. Mr. Mitchell declined an invitation to play 1he violin, saying that he didn't want to torture the mascot’s ears unneces- » Scouts then followed the trail steep hill, being rewarded at the top with a lovely view of the Potomac River and the surrounding country. Returning to camp, they were pre- sented with two boxes of marsh- mallows by Mr. Mitchell. These were soon roasted, and they proceeded to earve their initials on an ancient birch tree. Guests. of Scouts were present Fri day .evening, April 17, in the Kenil- worth ~Church, Kenilworth, D. C. Due to the rainy weather, some of the parents could not be présent. Sevi 1enderfoot Scouts were invested Mordfelt, Catherine Kirby, Lucille Maize, Earnestine Maize, Lucille Con- rad rothy s and Phylls Jen- nings. S girls received their second ¢ badges: Louise Day, Jacquelyn Ames, - Virginia Julia Fletcher, Hilda Fischer, raine Johnson and Mary Jennings. The Scouts gave a short entertain- ment and refreshments were served. On Tuesday, April 14, the captain had a luncheon at her home for the wecond-class Scouts. On Friday, April 17, several of the members of Troop 34 met with the eaptain, Vera Lawrence, at 6 a.m. fer an all-day hike. Reaching Rock Creek Park about 7:30, they made a campfire in the stone fireplace not far from Pierce Mill. There they cooked and enjoyed breakfast to the accom- paniment of many bird songs. After breakfast several games of ‘“horse- shoe throwing” were played, follow- ed by ball. They then divided into two groups, one group laying a trail of crossed sticks at the end of which they hid a prize. About 15 minutes later the second group set out to fol- Jow the trail. Some of the members practiced Budging heights and distances. At about 11:30 preparations were smade for cooking lunch, so when it began to rain, shortly after 2 o'clock, nll were ready to be on their way. ¥rom Rock Creek Park they hiked to the Zoo Park, visiting the different houses and leaying for home at about 8 o'clock. The girls who went on this sun- rise hike were: Esther Rankin, Kathryn Mushake, ~ Ethel Soper. Josephine Rankin, Anna Fugitt and Margaret Johnson.
