On June 14, 1777, a committee of the Conti- nental Congress, comprising George Washington, Robert Morris and George Ross, called upon Betsy Ross and asked her to undertake the making of it. She made the first flag with thirteen stars and stripes. It was decided to add a star for each new state as it was admitted to the Unior. The flag now has forty-eight. Read the instru ctions printed on the pictures and help Betsy Ross make our first flag. See how nicely you can paste the stripes in the places provided for them.
