Melvin's Damca Orchestra, Y STAR, WASHINGTO Flower Carnival in Aid Of Roosevelt Memorial At a meeting of the Georgia divi- sion of the Roosevelt Memorial Asso- ciation for the District of Columbla, held at the Wilson Normal School Wednesday night, arrangements were | perfected for the flower carnival which is to be held on the Dean grounds on the evening of July 15. Owing to heavy rains the carnival had to be postponed from June 29. The President and Mrs. Harding have accepted an invitation to be present, and a number of pretty girls have been selected by a committee and formally entered in the beauty contest for the $2,000 Dixie Firefly. The formal entries in the auto contest as entered include: Leona Neurath, Emma Schwab, Grace McVey, Mary O'Leson, Helen Roach, Viola Waver- ing, Sybil Almond, Mrs. W. I. Den- zing, Mrs. R._Greenfleld, Olivia Pribula, Grace McCulloch, Hazel Davis, Margaret L. Huss, Jeannette Morris, Frances Davis. Marguerite Mattingly, Lucy Dodd, Pearl Bailey, Mildred Hild and Mrs. Jack Everett. There are many additional beauty prizes to be awarded on the night of the carnival, including an oil painting of the winner, to be executed by the noted artist, C. A. Whipple. All the pretty girls in Washington representing the District and the forty-eight states are invited to par- ticipate in the beauty pageant, which will be presented the evening of July 15, and will be reviewed by the Presi- dent and Mrs. Harding and a distin- guished company. It Is expected that more than 1,000 of the Washington beauties will participate in the pag- eant, which is to be led by graceful dancers. Alexandria Society.
